Salt House

Residential | Full Scope Design

The Salt House is my own personal home in Portland, Oregon shared with my husband, 2 year old daughter and our large goldendoodle. The home has been in the same family since it was erected in 1908. For the better (and not without challenge) much of the home has been untouched including beautiful craftsman pocket doors, brass hardware, and a chunky Newel Post with beading that subconsciously influences elements of the design throughout the home with boxy traditional craftsman elements mixed with more feminine curves.

The project is currently under construction with renovations taking place in phases.

The first phase includes:

  • getting the house livable and safe (lots of boring but necessary renovation steps to rid the home of asbestos, repair the sinking foundation and replace exposed knob and tube wiring.

  • uncovering the original hardwoods and restoring them throughout the home including the staircase

  • renovating the kitchen and converting a small bedroom to a primary suite
